Jer. 22:16 Did not your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him. He pled the cause of the afflicted and needy; then it was well. Is that not what it means to know Me?" declares the LORD.
Deut. 15:10. You shall give generously to [your poor brother], and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in all your undertakings.
Prov. 19:17. He who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, and He will repay him for his good deed.

When it says you shall not be grieved when you share with the poor, I think of how we are so judgmental. I have grown much more loving but it is still hard sometimes. Working with the homeless, I find a lot of judgments about the unworthy poor. Anger because they don't "follow the program," or attend meetings. It hurts my heart when I hear the judgments. Yet, I am looked on as being too "soft" for not sharing the same. I am not better than them. I think they've grown hard from the years of working with the homeless.
Yes, Julia - many are judgmental - but through prayer and dedication you can resolve to be different. Always remain non judgmental and accepting no matter how others may behave. Your love, in the end will transform others.
