Hungry, Grumpy, Grateful and Thirsty

It was a hot weekend, 100+ degrees in Los Angeles and nearly the same in Ventura while in the So Cal region meeting more than 1,000 homeless men, women and children parched, dehydrated, immobilized, hungry, grumpy, grateful and thirsty . . .

It was also the 8th anniversary weekend of the official founding Mass of the Servants of the Father of Mercy - we're just like Domino's Pizza, "We Deliver!"  Here are pictures of the team gaining graces to be heaven-bound as they pray, gather and serve the poor.  It's great to see the children involved with their moms and dads too.

Thanks be to God for the new and old team members Carmen Lozano, Brea Lozano, Irma, Noah's Bagels, Brio Bakery, St. Peter's Church, Cipriano, Dilip Patel, Roman Patel, Raj Patel,  Manuel Estrada, Oscar Estrada, Mary Pendergast, Carol Ann Hatten, Yanita and Enrique, Mark Burke, Michael Valencia, Craig Palm and many, many more - enjoy the pictures!

The Way to Heaven is the Ultimate Road Trip

The Road to Heaven . . .

Okay, let's get one thing straight in our lives.  Human weaknesses and sin of all types does NOT keep people out of heaven.  If that were the case 100% of everyone would be in hell.  "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23  You and I are sinners, (that's code for losers) - get over it.

The road to hell is marked with ordinary sinners like you and me who simultaneously are also UNMERCIFUL people.  They live life backstabbing, gossiping, controlling, manipulating and criticizing others.  It's easy to be hell bound - make life all about you, forget about helping others, be unforgiving and secretly desire power, wealth and control.

It's easy to be heaven bound, be merciful, giving and forgiving to family, friends and especially the poor and the homeless. "Blessed are the merciful, they will be shown mercy." Matthew 5:7

Reserve a spot in heaven with the new American Missionaries - we're like Domino's, "We Deliver!" to the homeless - food, water, clothing, soaps, shoes, socks, spiritual supplies and more to 70,000 + in So Cal and beyond . . .

When all is Stripped Away

At the end of life, when all is stripped away, what will you be left with deep down inside your soul?  Death comes, then in an instant the car, the house and all possessions are wiped away.  It is said, “Never have seen a Brinks truck at a funeral!”

Now is the time to gather riches for heaven by giving openly and freely to the poor, donating to the work of God on earth and performing works of mercy by visiting the sick in hospitals, nursing homes and caring for the poor, especially the homeless.

Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.”  Mathew 6:19-20

Serve with the new American Missionaries - we're like Domino's, "We Deliver!" to the homeless - food, water, clothing, soaps, shoes, socks, spiritual supplies and more to 70,000 + in So Cal and beyond . . .

Mercy for the Poor - Misericordia para los Pobres

“Come, all you who are thirsty,

    come to the waters;

and you who have no money,

    come, buy and eat!

Come, buy wine and milk

    without money and without cost.

Why spend your money on what is not bread,

and your labor on what does not satisfy you?

Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,

and you will delight in the richest of food.” Isaiah 55:1-2

Misericordia para los Pobres

“Todos los sedientos, venid a las aguas;

y los que no tenéis dinero, venid, comprad y comed.

Venid, comprad vino y leche

Overlooked, Despised, Rejected, Hated, Persecuted, Crucified and that’s on a Good Day!

Today, a Facebook friend profoundly has reflected and laments . . . “It's no shock to learn that someone many overlook could be so compassionate. My son Alex is often overlooked by many and has so few friends. Yet, he is the kindest, most loving, and down to earth person I know. I wish more people would reach out to these angels on earth!”

It's very common to this very day - the compassionate, pure and humble ones are often overlooked at home and at work.  That is the exact story of Cain and Abel, the life of Joseph in the Old Testament, David the shepherd boy, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene, etc. - all of them rejected and overlooked and all of them prefigured the compassion, purity and kindness of the Christ who was also not to be loved and adored but abandoned, despised, rejected, tortured and crucified by all for his pure affection.

In the true story, the book "Prayers for Bobby" (photo) a mom repents because of her aggression and judgment of a model, helpful, kind and loving son who ultimately commits suicide because of her and the dad’s hostility toward his gay identity.  She later discovers after he appears to forgive her from the afterlife in the family's kitchen one day, that he was exactly what the Bible describes as “pure of heart – for they shall see God”.  Unfortunately, these types of individuals usually get judged and ultimately crucified.

St. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:27, “God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God has chosen the weak to shame the strong.”

Please join the Servants of the Father of Mercy team today by calling (310) 595-4175 and plan a time for yourself, family and friends to join with us to go out and deliver water, food, clothing, shoes, rosaries and more to the 70,000 + poor homeless who are misjudged, despised, rejected, lost and forgotten in the So Cal region.
