But I will Leave a Remnant in your Midst, a People Humble and Lowly . . .

Lord Jesus, you and your holy family were poor, so poor in fact that you became as beggars and went door-to-door pleading for a room. And so we know that You hear the cry of the poor! Lord, hear each one of us in our poverty of need. We’re broken and we long for your salvation. Come and transform our emptiness into fullness of life by your redeeming love.

R Lord, hear the cry of the poor!

For all the poor who are downtrodden and oppressed by the commercialism of the holiday season: May they be filled with your warmth, justice and peace. R

For the homeless who live under the oppression of constant movement and migration: May they now be granted eternal rest. R

For all those broken and oppressed by loneliness and emptiness in what should otherwise by a joyful season: May they be comforted by your friendship and companionship throughout the New Year. R

But I will leave a remnant in your midst, a people humble and lowly, who shall take refuge in the name of the Lord. Zephaniah 3:12
